Gap was orginally founded in 1969 by Donald Fisher. The Gap was suppose to be his solution to the problems of customer service and fashionable styles present in department stores era.
In 1969, Donald Fisher opened the first ever gap store in a theatre annex on Ocean Avenuenear San Francisco State University.
